FLSA: Non-Exempt

Location: Onsite, Variable Schedule from 8am – 8pm (may include weekends)

Summary:

Shelter Staff promote stabilization and safety for clients. They maintain the Pallet Shelter Site, support clients in following guidelines, and collaborate with them on housing planning for a transition to permanent housing. This involves partnering with outreach and housing service providers, culturally specific organizations, and community-based organizations to ensure that those experiencing houselessness access needed resources provided by MCCAC and community partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Intake clients into Shelter as needed and support shelter clients in following client agreements.

· Follow crisis response protocols and document incidents.

· Maintain knowledge of and practice current CDC and other health authority guidelines to ensure the health and safety of shelter.

Assist with daily health and safety inspections of Pallet Units.

· Provide access to basic needs resources and direct participants to case manager when necessary.

· Coordinate services and/or provide serve to Black, Indigenous, People of Color and LGBTQ+ community members through partnerships with culturally specific organizations and other organizations providing services specific to these community members.

· Utilize Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Care, Rapid Rehousing and Housing First approaches to serve diverse clients.

· Assist in connecting clients with employment related resources.

· Clean and maintain restrooms, showers, and laundry room as needed.

· Enter client-specific data into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and provide timely incident reports to the Regional Shelter Director within 24 hours.

· Collaboration with community partners, such as Police, EMTs, and probation officers.

Qualifications & Skills:

· Knowledge of emergency shelter services, housing services, client advocacy, equity and racial justice, homeless service delivery and knowledge of associated barriers.

· Familiar with de-escalation techniques to effectively respond to crisis situations.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills.

· Profiency in Microsoft Office platforms. Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) experience a plus

· Ability to be reliable with good attendance.

· Excellent team building and problem-solving skills.

· Bilingual a plus

Education & Experience:

· Minimum of High School diploma or GED equivalent required.

· Lived experience and/or experience in houseless or social service program delivery.
